Sony has just announce that they are planning to change their movie/tv purchases and rental policy. Sony Released an post on their blog about the situation. That due to the shift in the behavior of its consumers with subscriptions and ad based entertainment that in August 31, 2021 they will stop movie/tv purchase and rentals on the PlayStation Store.
Don't worry about your already purchased content! You will still have access to previous purchases for on demand play back on PS4/PS5 and mobile devices. This news comes with the idea of digital media can disappear if company hosting it decides it no longer provides it. Nice to see Sony all you to still enjoy your purchased goods.

We’ve seen tremendous growth from PlayStation fans using subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services on our consoles. With this shift in customer behavior, we have decided to no longer offer movie and TV purchases and rentals through PlayStation Store as of August 31, 2021.
